Krzysztof Lewczuk — DevOps / Cloud / AI / SysOps, based in Wrocław, Poland.

I build and run the infrastructure underneath products: pipelines, clusters, observability, and the automation that keeps them boring in a good way. Currently Senior DevOps Engineer at Thaumatec Tech Group, and running my own thing as HTSH on the side.

HOW IT STARTED

I've been fascinated by computers for as long as I can remember. When I started elementary school, around the time Windows 95 was released, I wanted an Amiga. A friend had the floppy-disk version, and playing Mortal Kombat on it seemed incredible compared to the "Pegasus" I had at home.

The school had a computer club, where I first got my hands on MS-DOS and tools like Norton Commander and Lotus 1-2-3 — and, of course, games like Hercules. Not exactly a traditional introduction to computing, but it stuck.

My first attempts at making websites date back to late 2003, when I discovered HTML through Paweł Wimmer's course. They were made at an internet café, since I didn't get my first computer with an internet connection until 2005. Some of those early experiments are still preserved somewhere in the Wayback Machine. I strongly advise against looking them up.

By late 2006, I had become user #434935 on the Linux Counter. From there, things escalated quickly. I spent years breaking and fixing my systems in pursuit of the perfect desktop, remastered my own Linux distribution based on Ubuntu 6.06, and contributed a little to Polish distributions such as PLD Linux and the now-defunct KateOS.

Apart from a few small webmastering jobs and fixing computers for family and friends, it was still just a hobby. That changed in 2013, when I started working as an IT Specialist.

WHAT I DO

• Design and operate CI/CD pipelines, from bare-metal runners to managed cloud services
• Build and maintain cloud and on-prem infrastructure with IaC
• Wire up observability so incidents get caught before they page anyone
• Apply lightweight AI/ML where it actually removes toil, not where it adds a demo

SELF-HOSTING

Outside work I run a homelab and self-host whatever I can get away with — Proxmox, a small K3s cluster, my own CI runners, this site. If a service has a self-hosted alternative, odds are I've already tried running it myself.

EXPLORING AI

Currently digging into the AI space beyond the hype: local models with llama.cpp and MLX, automation with n8n, routing with LiteLLM, image workflows with ComfyUI. Early days, learning in public.

KNOWLEDGE SHARING

OUTSIDE OF WORK

As a fan of fantasy and sci-fi, I'm fascinated by other worlds, whether I find them in books, games, or real places that look like they came straight out of a story. I love exploring old castles and palaces, and I'm an avid reader and book collector. When it comes to games, I enjoy everything from MMOs and action RPGs to casual mobile and browser games, with classics like Sudoku and Mahjong being perfect for a quick mental break.
